Thankful

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Its that time of year to reflect on all the good stuff in life… I know I’m particularly thankful to have this sweet puppy in my life, Ms. Mira. She’s a rescue, from Taiwan no less, and was rescued from the flood in 2009… I highly encourage adopting a rescue dog, they’re always the sweetest dogs. Two of my favorite dog rescues: DAWG & Labs and Buddies (you can also donate to help save a dog here and here). And of course, Happy Thanksgiving!

Have you heard about Lover.ly yet? Its a new place to browse and “bin” all your favorite wedding inspiration from your favorite wedding blogs in one place. Its got a similar vibe to Pinterest, except the content is pulled only from the best wedding blogs, which means the quality of images on Lover.ly will always be the best of the best. With over 100,000 images already in the database, its the perfect place to start putting together the inspiration for your wedding design.

To meet the team behind Lover.ly and some of my favorite bloggers, I headed down to Manhattan beach a few weeks ago to get a sneak peek. It was so much fun to hang out with Kathryn of Snippet & Ink, Cathleya from Weddingbee, Leila of Inspired by This, Shawna from Maharani Weddings, Summer of Grey Likes Weddings, Amy & Jocey of the Wedding Chicks, Chandra of Oh Lovely Day, Emarie of The Collection Event Studio, and of course have my photo taken by the incredible Elizabeth Messina. If you’d like to request your beta invite you can do so right here. Happy Lover.ly-ing!

tuesday_shoesday

I’m sure you’ve heard about Pinterest, the tool that lets you pin photos you love, organize them into boards, and share with friends. Its a great place to gather inspiration for a wedding, home decorating and so on. For me, I thought it be helpful to put all the beautiful Tuesday Shoesday photos in one spot, so I created the “Tuesday Shoesday” board.

Likewise, I’ve pinned all my inspiration boards, so you can glance at them all at once. Check it out right here. Happy pinning!

william_sonoma_giveway

I’m super excited to be hosting my second William Sonoma $150 giftcard giveway! I know everyone recently got engaged over Valentine’s day and the registry is one thing people start asking about immediately. So here are a few of my current must haves from William Sonoma’s registry.

williamsonoma_collage

I love to entertain, and registering for gifts to entertain friends and family is a win win for everyone. Fine linen just adds a certain classy feel and hemstitch is always in style. I love a good inspiring book for table decor, and their Entertaining book is sure to give you plenty of ideas.I’m a sucker for candles and these hurricanes (which you can have engraved) are perfect either on a buffet or tabletop. I bought a mandoline recently and I have to say it saves so much time during prep (and it makes prepping scallop potatoes a breeze), which means you can spend more time hanging out with friends and family.

Want to win the giftcard? Here are the rules:

1. You must register with Williams-Sonoma to enter the giveaway. If the your already registered with W-S, simply add another item to your registry to enter the giveaway and include this item in their comment.

2. You can leave a comment on this post and state what you have already registered for from William Sonoma. Please list your favorite registry item in your comment.

3. You can get  an extra entry if you include your public registry link in your comment.

4. Contest ends Monday, March 7th at 12am PST.

Good luck!

2010, Year in Review

santa_barbara_wedding

Its been quite the busy year, lots of goals achieved, and many more added to the list. Here are a few of my memorable moments.

anthropologie_wedding

In February, I produced, designed, and styled The “Anthropologie” themed wedding photo shoot. It was featured on Oncewed.

Little-Black-Book-certified-wedding-vendor-2010

It was also the same day I got the email saying I was invited to Style Me Pretty‘s exclusive Little Black Book of top vendors.

That same month, I contributed a Valentine themed table to The City Sage blog. That same shoot also got featured on Apartment Therapy.

In March, I designed a wedding which blended Japanese ikebana floral with Art Deco. The ceremony arbor was  probably my favorite part of the whole wedding.

In April, the second annual B-List Conference was held in Washington DC. It was so good to see many of blog friends and make many new ones!

In May, I changed my business name to reflect where I’m going long term with my company. Kelly Oshiro Design was born along with the launch of offering floral design and letterpress invitations with my paper artist, Megan.

Elizabeth and Matt’s modern beach wedding held at Rancho Dos Pueblos was featured on Style Me Pretty in October.

Also in October, I went to bridal market week and met Martha Stewart which was amazing!

junebug_loves

In November, What Junebug Loves, featured Victoria and Jeff’s rustic elegance affair also held at Rancho Dos Pueblos.

In December, I collaborated with Fifty Flowers on a holiday table. The City Sage was kind enough to feature my festive table. There were many more weddings that I designed this year and I hope to share them with you soon (they’re in submission land to blogs and magazines). I’m looking forward to a super busy 2011 (maybe insanely busy would be more accurate). I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year’s Eve!

Martha Stewart Weddings Party + Smilebooth

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Boy, oh boy, did we have an amazing time in New York! It was fantastic. The Martha Stewart Weddings party was one of my favorite things we did. As soon as we checked our coats, Martha Stewart walked right by us! The food at the event was great, the music was fun, and I got to meet Nole from Oh So Beautiful Paper and Emily from Once Wed. What a pleasure!

Here’s a photo we took with Nole! I personally loved the photobooth so much that I went back through a few more times…

Martha Stewart Weddings Party

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

martha_stewart_darcymiller

The Martha Stewart Weddings party was epic. Especially, since I saw Martha in coat check of all places.

martha_stewart_wedding_party

The signature drinks were all adorable (as you would expect from a Martha party) and the bar featured a huge glittery chandelier.

martha_stewart_weddings

There was a lot of sweets out to enjoy, the most important being of course, the gelato by L’Arte De Gelato. Most of all, it was so fun to catch up with my fellow B-listers like Nole from Oh So Beautfiul Paper, Emily of Oncewed, Amanda of Ruffled, Vane of Brooklyn Bride and Anne of Aisledash. Plus, it was so nice to finally meet the super talented ladies,  Joy Thigpen and Ashley Meanders!

They have save the dates, bridal shower invitations, wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations and even thank you notes! I’m loving their modern invitations, particularly the one above.
