Color Palette: Neon-tastic

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

Neon seems to be popping up every where.. I love the idea of a wedding design with touches of neon that is still really, really, elegant (it would be such a fun design challenge).

How rad would a neon wall be for a ceremony backdrop? SO RAD.

Inspiration Board #57: Thanksgiving Feast

Monday, November 21st, 2011

I love the idea of a cozy, intimate wedding held over the long thanksgiving weekend. Lemon, herbs and the thanksgiving feast would serve as decor for the dining table. Accents of mustard and lemon, mixed with heirloom blue and white china, and brass candlesticks would give the tablescape a sophisticated and cohesive look. Would you hold a thanksgiving wedding?

Inspiration Board #54: Saturated Color

Monday, October 17th, 2011

For this fall season, I love taking the natural hues of the season, the reds, oranges and yellows and cranking up the volume and using a super saturated version of each color. Add in  a shot of fuschia to the mix and you’ve got a fun and seasonal palette.I picture a wedding with these colors taking place in an art museum where the all white space would balance the richness of the palatte.

Washi Tape Table

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

rainbow_041

I love washi tape and I thought it would be fun to use for wedding decor rather than fresh flowers.

rainbow_085

I used butcher block and then lined the 10′ runner with washi tapes cut at various lenghts. It was time consuming, but I love how it came out.

rainbow_191

I found colorful rainbow fabric from Michael Levine’s and had napkins made. Enjoy Cupcakes was kind enough to provide cupcakes for the table.

rainbow_086

The washi tape was carried through to the candles, I love how the candlelight comes through the translucent washi tape.

Happy crafting!

So delicate and feminine…

Alisa + Tim, Part Three- Reception

Friday, April 29th, 2011

alisatim_006

For the reception, we used a khaki linen (a nice neutral to pop all the colors off of) and red napkins. I tied red gingham around the napkins and tucked in cornflowers and nigella.

colorreception_098

Doesn’t nigella look like fireworks?

alisatim_233

For centerpieces I used mini watering cans, quilted mason jars and terra cotta pots. Flowers included dahlias in red, white, and yellow, daisies, yarrow, blue thistle, and cornflower. Alisa’s mom made the quilting squares for the tables which she later turned into a wedding quilt.

alisatim_229

For table numbers, I spray painted the terra cotta with chalk board paint and wrote the number in red chalk.

alisatim_058

At Alisa’s and Tim’s seats I placed petite blue bottles and tucked in a red lollipop dahlia. I got the bottles from the Pasadena flea, I think they originally held bitters.

colorreception_001

A few oversized ballooms marked the sparkler table and kept the little ones entertained.

colorreception_046

For dessert, Enjoy Cupcakes came and brought their delicious and adorable treats.

colorreception_036

Seriously, the prettiest and tastiest cupcakes know to man.

alisatim_013

And of course, it all ended with a heart! Congratulations again to Alisa and Tim!

Real Wedding: Alisa + Tim, Part One

alisatim_010

I had so much fun doing this Americana themed Fourth of July Wedding. I used loads of red gingham ribbon for decor, along with pops of blue, white and yellow. It was such a cheery palette and perfect for a summer wedding.

alisatim_011

For Alisa’s bouquet she knew she wanted red, but she also wanted daisys for sure. So I mixed peonies, dahlias, daisys and blue thistle for her all american look. Around the base, I wrapped her grandmother’s locket.

gettingready_003

For the bridesmaids bouquets, I used buttons Alisa made from left over fabric from her table linens/quilting squares.

alisatim_183

When I met with her she brought a bunch and wasn’t certain how to incorporate them, so I suggested using them on the bouquets/bouts and seating cards.

alisatim_036

For the groomsmen I made boutonnieres that were all slightly different from each other. This one is nigella wrapped in burlap with a light blue button. Next up the ceremony and more details… Photos by the darling Kirsten Ellis of Beaux Arts Photographie.
