alisatim_208

Today’s shoesday photo is from a wedding I did last Fourth of July. The entire wedding is being featured on Snippet & Ink, you can check it out here. I’ll have more from this wedding this week. And a big thank you to Kirsten Ellis of Beaux Arts Photographie for her amazing work (she shoots film people, film. Get excited).

Paper Art, M&Co

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Remember that post I did a bit ago on Maira Kalman? She also designs these amazing products that are distributed by the Museum of Modern Art.

m&co paperweight

These paperweights are sort of silly. Hey, it’s tax time – maybe you could get the one on the right for your CPA?

m&co watches

These watches are extremely elegant and playful.

m&co sky umbrella

And this, this is simply gorgeous!

modernpop

I’m really into colorful anything lately and these Helvetica posters by ModernPop are right up my alley.

The posters are meant for children but I think they’d work just about anywhere. You can check out their shop of Etsy right here.

The sun is out and the roses are starting to bloom…

I think I might need to stop by the flower shop and pick up some muscari and tulips and make a pretty bouquet for my office…

Happy Monday’s my dears!

Paper Art, Matte Stephens

matte_stephens_mrowl

Ms. Megan is a bit under the weather, so I’m filling in today. I recently bought a bunch of Matte Stephen prints and I’m so in love. This one hangs above my bed. Gotta love an Owl rocking a pipe, bow tie, and umbrella!

matte_stephens_feedingbirds

This print is perfectly on theme for this week. Its been pouring here!

matte_stephens_familyportrait

I may have to get this one soon. A cat family portrait is just too silly and awesome. You can see more Matte’s work right here.

Saturated Color

pink_yellow_orange_pollywreford

Lately, I’ve been loving colorful, bold palattes, and this still life of hot pink, yellow, and orange, is right up my alley.

pink_yellow_orange_pollywreford2

I’m loving these color swatches with a pop of white. So modern and playful, and a great color palette to get you through the last days of gray winter.

Russia in Color

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

russia3

This post is slightly off topic, but the colors and textures of these images are to amazing not to share. I found out about these color images of Russia circa 1910 via my husband. The photos were taken using a special camera with red, green, blue filters to create the stunning colors. I love this image in particular, the richness of the blue robe and the delicate floral print of iris is truly remarkable.

russia

Likewise, this lady’s dress of deep red and blue velvet is such a classic (and royal) color scheme. I love her colorful hat too.

russia4

This is my kind of tapestry shop. The richness of the colors, red, and pinks are so sumptuous. And that pattern in the foreground is so timeless and modern it would work in most anyone’s home.

russia5

These children robes are amazing. The one on the far right with a mix of pink, purple , yellow and aqua looks like it could be a pattern from an anthropologie dress.

russia2

Now this is what I call a church. Vibrant red and white, it commands your attention and the ornate detail is as fine as a faberge egg. To see more of Russia in Color click here and here.

Paper Art, Graphic Assessories

poketogridtotes

Lately I’ve been inspired by minimal, graphic assesories. I love these grid pattern totes. They look exquisite the way they are, or you could fill in the boxes with your own ideas…
scarvespoketo

These scarves are really neat. A colorful take on pin stripes!

upcycledbagspoketo

These upcycled tote bags are pretty rad. I bought one for Kelly for her birthday! It’s recycled, and they’re all different so it’s a surprise when you open the package.

I’m really digging all these items from Poketo.

Anthropologie Wedding Line: BHLDN

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

bhldn_2

I am so in love with Anthropologie’s wedding line, BHLDN (beholden). The dresses are to die for; I’m obsessed with the one on the left. Tea length, scallop hemline, illusion neckline all with a distinct art deco flair? Amazing!

bhldn_1

I also love the sweet eyelet dress. Perfect for a beach ceremony or a bohemian wedding. Also, the three dimensional quality of the gray pleated dress is so modern and chic.

bhldn_3

Of course, then there are the shoes. The shoes are INSANE. I’m dying for the center shoe, it might need to come home with me like, today.

bhldn_4

The clutches are equally as stunning. The art deco inspired one on the left is perfection (can you tell I love anything art deco?).

bhldn_5

And from subtle, and sweet, to over the top drama, the head pieces are spot on. To check out more click right here. Happy Shopping!

Sweet Ranunculus

ranculus_jimfranco

I love Ranunculus, from their sweet and delicate rose-like shape to the rainbow of colors they come in.

yellowranculus_richardpowers

Placed in a vase, they can stand on their own as beautiful floral statement.

Or grouped in mass, they are gorgeous either way.

Happy New Year everyone! I’m feeling a bit rusty on the blog front so I thought a burst of color might get me inspired.

Real Wedding: Rustic Elegance at Rancho Dos Pueblos

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

022_041__IM_5467

This wedding was held at the gorgeous Rancho Dos Pueblos, my all time favorite location. Here is the beautiful bride and perhaps the most “wedding planner” moment I’ve ever had; I was the one driving the golf cart to the ceremony site!

047_057__IM_5982

For ceremony, I had a platform built and carpeted to add an elegant touch.

rustic_elegance_ceremony

Overhead, Kim at Collage created a simple huppa with gorgeous hydrangea, calla lilies, and yellow roses.

0464__IM_6460

My favorite photo of the couple, taken right after ceremony.

rustic_seating_cards

For the escort cards I hung them on an old burnt out tree at Rancho Dos Pueblos’ Casa Grande. Laura Hooper did the elegant calligraphy.

letterpress_invitations_santa_barbara

For invitations, Megan used her own handmade paper (yes, handmade!) and created a deckle (torn edge) on the bottom of each part of the invitation. The design was very simple, with a hand drawn Morton Bay Fig Tree flanking the bottom of the invitation. For the hotel insert, she used translucent handmade paper that was gorgeous.

rancho_dos_pueblos

My favorite part of the event design, was uplighting Rancho Dos Pueblos’ huge Morton Bay Fig Trees. Each one is at least 60′ in diameter.

santa_barbara_rustic_elegance_wedding

Some of the guests tables with the trees lit behind. For linens, I had runners made of a soft yellow silk set atop dark wood Amalfi tables. It was the perfect blend of “Rustic Elegance.”

rustic_elegance_kelly_oshiro_design

For the head table centerpieces of hydrangea, calla lilies, and cymbidium orchids, decorated the table. I also used mercury glass candle holders in two heights to add a touch of silver.

rustic_elegance_chair_wedding

For the bride and groom’s chair, a bunch of roses tied with yellow silk added a romantic touch.

0637_IMG_3120

On each place setting, a hemstitch napkin held a letterpress menu that was mounted on a thin piece of wood. One cymbidium was tucked into the napkin as well.

rancho_dos_pueblos_bar

Since the lawn is so large, I used hedging to baffle the lawn and hide the catering kitchen. In front of the hedging, I created a huge bar using Montecito furniture from Town & Country.

0586_IMG_3002

In front of the bar, I used Montecito couches mixed with Rococo furniture to create a large lounge area.

0654_IMG_3160

Christine Dahl made a simple square tiered cake accented with cymbidiums, was perfectly elegant and understated.

A special thanks to all the vendors who made it possible:
