Inspiration Board #37: Fall Wedding

fall_wedding

I love fall, and I love the idea of using the elements of the season, the changing leaves, gourds, and pumpkins, as the inspiration for decor for a wedding. I picture this wedding taking place in a lodge with a large fire place. Warm cider would be served as a pre-ceremony drink and the menu would feature butternut squash soup as a starter course.

happy tape wedding decor

Can you tell I’m looking for decor? And I’m, seriously, madly in love, with these pretty tapes from Japan.

There are so many places I could use this– around vases or candles, welcome bags, endless possibilities.

I kind of want them all… Avaliable here.

I’m so in love with these cement containers. Any colorful flower (yellow or orange especially) would just pop against the soft gray. You can buy them here at Jamali Gardens.

Real Wedding Detail: Candles

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

The bride loved lot of textures and wanted a very eclectic feel. I referenced this picture above as a way to add more texture to the tabletop design.

Instead of using leather, I bought hemp rope and twine to wrap around the candles.

The contrast of textures added the perfect touch to the tables.

Best of all, this detail was very budget-friendly and added that extra little something to the tabletop design.

Decor Source: Wild Things

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I’m constantly searching for new sources for decor and Wild Things has tons of lanterns, beaded curtains, and chandeliers. I particularly love their chandelier selection with tons of styles and colors to chose from. The best part by far are the super reasonable prices.

Decor Mecca: Downtown Los Angeles

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

One of my favorite places to find inspiration is the LA flower market and the adjacent fashion district (the jewerly district is not to far off either if you’re looking for wedding bands). The flower market is on Maple and 9th and is open to the public weekly Monday through Saturday from 6am or 8am (depending on the day) and charges a measly $2 for entrance. Taking up 2 city blocks, flowers go on as far as the eye can see. Upstairs from the flower market is GM Floral, Just Pots, and accross the street is Moskatels (ie Michael’s). GM and Moskatels both have decor and craft supplies for days and at pretty reasonable prices. Just Pots has an amazing collection of pots and vases for any color scheme or “look”. You can walk down a block to Wall and 8th St where the fashion district starts with its hundreds of fabric stores. Here you can haggle with vendors on prices and score silk fabric for $8 a yard. Truly a dream come true!
