Real Wedding Detail: Succulent Placecard & Favor

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

The bride loved succulents (as do I!) and so I suggested we use mini succulents potted in aged terracotta to function as both the place card and as guest favors.

I found mini succulents at Seaside Gardens. Mini terracotta pots were purchased in downtown LA.

The Wednesday before we transplanted all 200 plants into aged terracotta pots (the pots were dipped in yogurt about a month before the wedding).

We used about 10 different types. If you do transplant, make sure to water them three times that first day and then once every following day. It sounds like a lot of water for succulents, but they need it when they’re this small.

Succulents

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

I absolutely adore succulents. They make great centerpieces since they can be planted after the wedding, making a truly one a kind keepsake.

They come in a plethora of colors, sizes, and shapes.

And can be used in a variety of ways on a table.

They look pretty and very Asian inspired when paired with horsetail.

And make the most adorable (and eco-friendly) wedding favors.

For the sweet tooth: Custom Cookies

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

A few years ago I ordered these cookies for a corporate event I was planning that needed logo cookies. Let me tell you, these cookies are as tasty as they are pretty. Hand-decorated gingerbread cookies, you can get them customizes with your monogram or whatever you desire. Each cookie comes in a cellophane bag tied with a coordinating grosgrain ribbon. I would order these at least 8 weeks in advance of your event (they are shipping from Canada after all).
They sent me a whole box of cookies for the holidays and I ate them all!
